Credit Repair Is Legal

Some say credit repair is illegal or doesn't work.  Some think only time will repair your credit.  This is not true.  Credit repair is legal and it does work.  It is true that time will fix your credit; after a period of 7 plus years the negative information will begin to fall off.  However negative credit items can be removed much sooner.  It isn't magic or some kind of trick.  There are several so called "credit repair" companies or "credit repair lawyer" that are nothing more than scams, ripping people off & taking their hard earned money, but there are also reputable credit repair companies that genuinely help people. 

I am a mother & wife who happens to be an expert in the field of credit.  I am an educated woman.  I had heard of these companies offering credit repair, in fact I had a friend & a relative get taken by one.  I saw that the business was filled with scams & scum.  I was educated & I knew a lot of about credit.  I was on a mission to see if credit repair was real, if it could be done.  I knew the that there were laws that governed the credit reporting agencies (FCRA) and wanted to see if true, accurate items could be removed from a credit report. 

Long story short, I found that it can be done.  It is true you can do it yourself, but I found if you know the law that govern the credit reporting agencies, debt collectors (FDCPA), you can get the negative items removed from your credit reports.  It can take time & persistence, but it can be done.  Usually a reputable credit repair specialist will produce quicker results because of their knowledge of the laws & that is what they do all day every day!  They can devote their time to it. 

I started Sleb Credit Solutions 3 years ago.  I do a lot more than credit repair, but credit repair is what 99% of my customers come to me for.  When the economy crashed so many people were affected.  People that had always maintained good credit & paid their bills on time found themselves in a place where they couldn't pay their bills or lost their home etc.  Most through no fault of their own.  They are ashamed & embarrassed.  Don't be!  Real estate agents & mortgage loan officers are now suggesting their clients get with a credit repair specialist.  Once a taboo subject & business is now being recognized as beneficial & has been shown to work!  I know it works!  I believe in credit repair & have seen it help so many people.  The key is to find an honest, reputable credit repair company.  A lot of the credit repair companies out there will work on 1 report at a time & 1 account at a time.  This is a way for them to drag out your payments.  Others try to charge in full, up front for 6 months worth of work (or a set fee of $400-$1500).  RED FLAG! DON'T DO IT!  So let's get to what to look for.

Credit repair companies are governed by laws under the FTC.  A good credit repair company will follow those laws!  A company should never charge up front for work that has not been done yet.  They may charge a set up fee or a sign up fee, followed by monthly payments for work done the previous month.  A good company will offer a guarantee of some kind.  If they aren't able to improve your credit they should offer some kind of money back guarantee!  A lot of the companies will have the Better Business Bureau logo on their website (BBB.ORG), some even say they are accredited members.  This is NOT true!  Credit repair companies are not allowed to be members because of all the scams in the industry.  Hopefully this will change, but as for now this is just another way these scam credit repair companies try to mislead you!  Talk to more than one company before choosing one.  Ask questions!
